Superintendent's Note

Superintendent, Dr. Dwayne Evans

There are so many transformative initiatives and accomplishments unfolding at Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District, making it challenging to capture them all. I hope you enjoy the brief sampling in our upcoming newsletter, selected to provide an update on some of the incredible things  happening in our school district.

From innovative instructional practices to student-centered learning environments, our schools continue to thrive thanks to the dedication of our educators, the curiosity of our students, and the support of families and community partners. We are proud to share highlights that reflect our commitment to academic excellence, equity, and the social-emotional well-being of every student.

Among the many recent successes:

  • Expanded Learning Opportunities: Our students are engaging in hands-on, real-world learning experiences through enrichment programs, partnerships, and field-based education.
  • Staff Excellence: Our teachers and staff are participating in ongoing professional development focused on inclusive teaching practices and culturally responsive instruction.
  • Community Engagement: We’ve seen growing participation in family events, community forums, and school-based initiatives designed to build stronger school-home connections.
  • Facility Enhancements: Continued improvements to our school buildings are creating safer, more modern, and more inspiring spaces for learning.

These achievements would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Board of Education, our teachers, our students, and our community. We are grateful to our families, community members, and local partners who continue to play an essential  role in the success of our district.

As we move forward, we remain focused on ensuring that every child receives the education they deserve—one that prepares them not only for academic achievement but also for meaningful lives and future opportunities.

Wishing you a safe, productive, and joyful remainder of your summer.

With gratitude,

Dwayne E. Evans, Ed.D.

Strategic Plan

To Our Valued Stakeholders,

I am pleased to present the Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District 157 five year (2025-2030) Strategic Plan. This document represents our collective vision of multiple stakeholders and serves as a roadmap for our continued growth and impact over the next five years.

Our mission for providing a nurturing learning environment where excellence is expected of everyone, as well as fostering community, providing educational programs, and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential has always guided us, but the landscape of education is evolving. This plan was developed with the support, input, and collective efforts of many members of our community, to proactively address these changes, ensuring we remain focused on student success, community involvement, and fiscal
responsibility.

Through an extensive planning process involving board members, staff, students, and residents,
we have identified five key strategic pillars that will drive our success:

  • [Strategic Priority 1]: Academic Success and Preparedness
  • [Strategic Priority 2]: Staff and Administrators Quality.
  • [Strategic Priority 3]: Community Engagement and Partnerships
  • [Strategic Priority 4]: Safe, supportive, and Inclusive Schools
  • [Strategic Priority 5]: Operational Success

Implementation and accountability are at the core of this framework. By aligning our resources with these goals, we will foster a culture of transparency and ensure that Hoover-Schrum continues to deliver exceptional value to those we serve.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment and for being part of this transformation.

Always doing what’s best for kids,
Dr. D. Evans
