POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Elementary Reading Specialist is responsible for the supervision of the elementary school curriculum, instruction, and assessment program in reading and language arts.  This responsibility includes goal setting, researching, planning, organizing, coordinating, decision-making, communicating and evaluating.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1.  Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents related to instructionalprograms
2.  Manage communication between staff and the Curriculum and Instruction Department
3. Advocate, facilitate and monitor the alignment, instruction, and assessment improvement in the accomplishment of district reading and writing goals
4. Serve as a support for school walk-throughs
5. Evaluate and improve the planning process
6.  Provide support/mentoring/training for identified teachers and campus administrators
7. Work with teachers (one-on-one or small groups) to refine their knowledge and skills; methods  of instruction may include in-class coaching, peer observation, co-teaching, and modeling effective instruction
8. Design and deliver professional development for teachers
9.  Assist school personnel in analyzing data for continuous improvement of student achievement I n reading and language arts
10. Encourage teachers’ involvement, empowerment, responsibility, and innovation in school improvement activities
11. Assist schools in securing appropriate instructional materials
12. Assist teachers in creating classroom learning systems
13. Assist school with articulation of the reading and language arts program from grade to grade and level to level
14. Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
15. Adhere to the district’s safety policies and procedures
16. Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business
17. Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assigned (classroom or office setting)

JOB SUMMARY:  The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep, safety, and functionality of school district facilities and grounds. This role involves routine maintenance, repairs, and collaborative work with custodial staff and other departments to support a conducive learning environment.
  
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• General Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and perform maintenance on building systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Repairs: Address and repair issues related to plumbing leaks, electrical malfunctions, broken fixtures, and structural components.
• Equipment Installation: Assemble and install furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
• Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity and efficiency of building systems and equipment.
• Safety Compliance: Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards within the facilities and grounds.
• Snow Removal: Participate in snow and ice removal to maintain safe access to school facilities during winter months.
• Collaboration: Work closely with custodians, faculty, and the Director of Buildings and Grounds to coordinate maintenance activities and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
Qualifications:
• Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education or training in a related field is a plus.
• Experience:
  • Prior experience in maintenance, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, or as a car mechanic is highly desirable.
• Skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 
• Physical Requirements:  Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in various environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:

• ·         All stairwells need to be cleaned and stairs mopped and scrubbed when necessary.

• Serve as a communication bridge between parents, teachers, and school staff to build strong family-school partnerships.
• Encourage and support parent involvement in school activities, workshops, and events.
• Help parents understand school routines, expectations, and how to support learning at home.
• Assist in planning and promoting Title I parent engagement activities.
