October 5th Newsletter

Monday, October 5: Girls Basketball Practice 3 - 5:00 p.m., Boys Basketball Open Gym, 3:00 - 4:30 - 8th grade only, Band 3:00 - 4:30.

Tuesday, October 6:  Girls Basketball Practice 3:00 - 5:00, Cheer Practice 3:00 - 4:30, Parent Meeting 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 7: Early Release, Jazz Band and Chorus 12-1, GBB 12- 1

Thursday, October 8: GBB @ Heritage, Cheer Practice 3:00 - 4:30, Pep Band and Schrum Line 3:00 - 4:00, Hispanic Heritage Program. 6:00 - 7:00.

Today, Schrum Memorial Middle School conducted an active threat safety drill as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our students and staff safe and prepared for emergencies.  The drill went well, teachers have done a wonderful job instructing their students on where to go during the drill or an actual emergency.  Over the course of the past few weeks we have had tornado drills, fire drills, and a bus evacuation drill. 

We encourage families to take a few minutes to talk with their children about what to do in the event of an emergency involving a criminal or other dangerous situation, whether they are at school, at home, or in a public place. Remind your child to listen to trusted adults, follow directions, stay aware of their surroundings, and move to a safe location when instructed.

While we hope our students will never have to use these skills in a real emergency, practicing helps them feel more confident and prepared should an unexpected situation occur.
