Message from the Principal

Hello Hoover Families,

We are excited to begin a new year filled with opportunities for discovery, growth, and achievement. Whether you are returning to our school or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our school community. We hope your summer was filled with rest, adventure, and cherished memories.

This year brings fresh energy and expertise to our leadership team, and we are proud to welcome two highly skilled and dedicated individuals to our administrative staff:

Mrs. Sherica Bulie, our new Assistant Principal of Student Services, joins us with a strong background in student support. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships with students and families and ensuring all children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Mrs. Bulie will be instrumental in leading our efforts around social-emotional learning, behavior support systems, and inclusive practices that meet the diverse needs of our students.

Mrs. Sue Soler, our new Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, brings a wealth of experience in instructional leadership, curriculum design, and teacher support. She is dedicated to ensuring high-quality, rigorous instruction across all grade levels. Mrs. Soler will be focusing on strengthening classroom instruction, supporting teachers with effective teaching strategies, and aligning our academic programs with state standards and district goals.

Together, this committed team will work alongside our staff, students, and families to create a positive and empowering learning environment.

This year, we remain committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for every student. Our dedicated staff is ready to support your child’s academic and social-emotional development through high-quality instruction, meaningful relationships, and a shared belief that all students can succeed. We will also continue to build the attributes that help our students thrive in school and beyond—resilience and perseverance to overcome challenges, empathic emotional intelligence to connect with and support others, effective communication skills to express ideas clearly, critical thinking to solve problems, and a growth mindset to embrace learning and continuous improvement.

We are also continuing our work to align instruction with our district goals:

  • Increasing student performance in Math and ELA,

  • Supporting all students through a strong MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports), and

  • Nurturing a trauma-sensitive school environment.

  • We encourage all families to get involved—whether by attending school events, volunteering, or simply staying connected with your child’s teacher. Strong school-family partnerships make a big difference in student success. Please check ParentSquare or our website regularly for updates, resources, and information about upcoming events. We are here to support you every step of the way.

Let’s make this a year to remember—one where our students grow not only in knowledge but also in the attributes and skills that prepare them for lifelong success.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Carmelita Cross

    Principal
