Superintendent's Note

Superintendent, Dr. Dwayne Evans

Dear Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District 157 Families,

I hope you and your family had a restful, enjoyable, and fun-filled summer. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to welcome our students back to Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District 157 on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Throughout the summer, our dedicated teachers, administrators, and staff have worked diligently to prepare for another successful school year—from strengthening and preparing our curriculum to ensuring our classrooms, schools, and grounds are ready for students. Their commitment and hard work have helped set the stage for an outstanding opening of school.

As we begin this new year, our focus remains firmly centered on our students. We are committed to inspiring their growth, providing innovative and engaging learning opportunities, and supporting the social and emotional well-being of every child. We want each student to feel welcomed, supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.

Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District 157 has a strong foundation built upon high expectations, dedicated educators, supportive families, and a community that believes in the success of every student. As Superintendent, I am proud of what we have accomplished together and even more excited about the opportunities ahead.

Our partnership with families is an essential part of our students’ success. By working together and embracing new opportunities, we can continue creating a nurturing learning environment where our children can learn, grow, and thrive. Your involvement, encouragement, and support make a tremendous difference, and we are grateful to have you as partners in this important work.

Thank you for entrusting us with your wonderful children. It is a privilege to serve them and your families. We cannot wait to welcome our students through our doors on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and begin another year filled with learning, growth, achievement, and memorable experiences.

To Our Valued Stakeholders,

I am pleased to present the Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District 157 five year (2025-2030) Strategic Plan. This document represents our collective vision of multiple stakeholders and serves as a roadmap for our continued growth and impact over the next five years.

Our mission for providing a nurturing learning environment where excellence is expected of everyone, as well as fostering community, providing educational programs, and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential has always guided us, but the landscape of education is evolving. This plan was developed with the support, input, and collective efforts of many members of our community, to proactively address these changes, ensuring we remain focused on student success, community involvement, and fiscal
responsibility.

Through an extensive planning process involving board members, staff, students, and residents,
we have identified five key strategic pillars that will drive our success:

  • [Strategic Priority 1]: Academic Success and Preparedness
  • [Strategic Priority 2]: Staff and Administrators Quality.
  • [Strategic Priority 3]: Community Engagement and Partnerships
  • [Strategic Priority 4]: Safe, supportive, and Inclusive Schools
  • [Strategic Priority 5]: Operational Success

Implementation and accountability are at the core of this framework. By aligning our resources with these goals, we will foster a culture of transparency and ensure that Hoover-Schrum continues to deliver exceptional value to those we serve.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment and for being part of this transformation.

Always doing what’s best for kids,
Dr. D. Evans
